As we reflect on the challenges and opportunities encountered in 2021, it is equally important to recognize the determination and perseverance of our community to overcome these adversities.

Twenty years ago, on the morning of September 11, 2001, America witnessed an unimaginable tragedy that claimed the lives of two thousand nine hundred and ninety-six (2,996) people.

Michelle Mason, FASAE, CAE, Jose Segarra, MNA, CAE, CNP, and Carlos Cardenas have a candid conversation around need-based advisory groups, internship partnership of Association Forum with National Louis University, the importance of Association Latinos and the work being done to support the association comunidad (community), and the LatinX advisory group.

To close out Women’s History Month, Association Latinos invited three Latinas working in association management to sit down for a chat about how they got into association management, their proudest achievements and what they think is needed to increase the visibility of Latinas in association management. Association Latinos congratulates Jose Segarra, MNA, CAE, CNP on being elected to the 2021-2022 Board of Directors for Association Forum. Jose is well known in the association management community in Chicago through his extensive volunteer engagement with Association Forum.

A SIG is a “Shared Interest Group” and is a great way for individuals to meet, network, learn and share ideas in a variety of Association Management functional areas.

My entry into association management was actually a career change. I started my first position in association management after having a successful career in retail management.

Association Forum’s Holiday Showcase 2020 starts next week, Tuesday, December 15th at 6 pm. This is a signature event that has connected the association community for the last 32 years. Association Latinos fellow member, Alicia Navarro, CMP served on this year’s Holiday Showcase Program Advisory Group.
